MajorApi — What's Next?
Thank you for using MajorApi! We want to tell you about the future of the service. No, this isn't one of those "we got acquired by Intuit for millions, cya!" notices (though that wouldn't be a horrible outcome either). However, MajorApi is shutting down.
We started MajorApi because we felt that integrating with QuickBooks was too difficult for developers. When we first started the project, the Intuit Partner Platform, or IPP, was very young and immature, so we wanted to offer developers a very simple REST API that they could integrate with QuickBooks.
To that extent, MajorApi was a success. We built a product that worked well and provided a solution to an actual problem. We're incredibly proud of that.
As it exists now, MajorApi is a service that no one uses regularly and it's no longer economical to keep it operating. We do rank 2nd on Google for "quickbooks rest api" so that's something to be proud of, as well.
All data stored in the service will be deleted permanently after March 1st, 2014. After that, the code behind the website and service will be open sourced under the MIT License so you are free to learn from it.
The Future — MajorIntel
When we first announced MajorApi, Intuit flew me (Vic) out to Mountain View to meet with their developers, architects, and managers. I was thoroughly impressed with Intuit and where IPP was going, so we're still interested in building on top of QuickBooks.
Our next project is named MajorIntel. Millions of people use QuickBooks daily to handle invoices, vendors, customers, payroll, and much, much more, but often small business owners get lost in growing their business and forget to see the big picture of how their business is operating.
MajorIntel is a Business Intelligence platform built on top of QuickBooks.
Every week, you will receive a beautifully designed custom report directly to your Inbox with a hollistic view of your company based on your QuickBooks data. See outstanding invoices, your best (and worst) customers, high performing employees, and popular products.
You can think of MajorIntel as Mint for Business.
We're really excited about MajorIntel. If it sounds like a product you would use, click the button below to register for the MajorIntel mailing list.
We really mean it when we say thank you. We hope that you'll join us on our journey as we built MajorIntel.
